Research Experience:

LBL Post-Doc Staff: CALGEM Project  (Advisor: Marc Fischer)                   07 – present

The measurement and inverse of greenhouse gases (GHGs) emission in California (CALGEM):

  (1) Running WRF model to get accurate meteorology data around CA

  (2) Modifying STILT to get the model output of CO2 and CH4 concentration at selected sites.

(3) Developing an innovative inversion model to retrieve the surface GHGs emission in California area based on STILT model output and tower measurements.

Part results have been shown in CEC, BAMS and AGU meeting.

University of Utah PhD Graduate Research Assistant (Advisor: Tim Garrett)  02---07

The interaction between aerosol, clouds and radiation in the Arctic:

(1) Arctic haze aerosol from long-range transport, not the local produced nucleation aerosol, play an essential role in the interaction between aerosol and clouds

(2) In the Nature paper, I figured out that Arctic haze aerosol, can warm the Arctic by 3.3-5.2 Wm-2 by increasing the low-level stratus cloud thermal emissivity.

(3) Developed two retrieval methods, one is for Arctic single-layer thin stratus clouds; the other is for Arctic precipitation.

(4) Aerosol pollution is associated with an increase in longwave cloud radiative forcing (CRF), and a relatively less decrease in shortwave CRF.

(5) Studied the Arctic precipitation scavenging efficiency

Peking University Graduate Research Assistant (Advisor: Jiayi Chen)             99--02

(1) Using Large Eddy Simulation to study carbon dioxide, water vapor and heat flux problems.

      (2) Doing field experiments, including Inner Mongolia area and Beijing area.

      (3) Dealing with industrial pollution source problem of Beijing
