Prof. Julia Paegle (emerita) has received the 2006 AMS Cleveland Abbe Award for distinguished service to the atmospheric sciences by an individual. The award is presented on the basis of activities that have materially contributed to the progress of the atmospheric sciences or the application of atmospheric sciences to general, social, economic, or humanitarian welfare. Julia was specifically cited "for her excellent research in Pan American Climate studies, for her legacy as an inspiring teacher and role model, and for her tireless, generous and consistently wise counsel in many committees". Congratulations to Julia for this well-deserved honor!
