Brandon Kern's successfully defends his Doctoral Dissertation in May 2008.

The Department of Meteorology announces that Brandon W. Kerns successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on May 14, 2008, entitled "Four years of developing and non-developing tropical disturbances:  Large-scale and Convective Characteristics."  The dissertation research was conducted under the direction of Dr. Edward J. Zipser, with Supervisory Committee Members Drs. John D. Horel, Steven K. Krueger, Zhaoxia Pu, and Shuyi Chen.  He will begin a postdoctoral position at the University of Miami in the fall.
