Local Forecast Contest
Current Forecast Site: Jefferson Creek, WA (JEFW1)
Validation Period: 00:59 PDT Wednesday - 23:59 PDT Thursday
RULES
Forecasts may be submitted anytime before 5PM on the day before the forecasted day.
The date field will automatically be filled in with the appropriate value for the next contest day.
Missed forecasts get you the average error of all participants for that day (which is much worse than consensus).
Maximum 3 missing forecasts per quarter; total of 6 missing forecasts during year. If more, you will be disqualified from award consideration.
Max/Min for the NWS site (KSLC) is highest/lowest temperature reported by metar reports for all 4 six hour periods from 0600 UTC Saturday to 0600 UTC Sunday. For the MesoWest site (CLN), it is the highest/lowest temperature reported from the station from 1 am Saturday to 12 am Sunday, local time.
Precip categories may vary by site as noted on pull down menu on forecast submission page. You may submit any category from 0 to 10, however, only categories of 0, 5, or 10 can verify as correct. Any value in between will accumulate error points, but may limit your chances of a large error.
Forecast sites and variables:
Fall: KSLC (Salt Lake City International Airport, UT)
Spring: CLN (Collins - Alta, UT)
Playoffs: Assorted, randomly chosen stations. See rules for more information.
