Sample Program of Study
General Information
- 122 credit hours are required for the major.
- Freshman math placement based on Math ACT Score: MATH 1210 if 23 or higher, otherwise MATH 1050.
- MATH 1210 and 1220 and upper-division meteorology courses satisfy University quantitative reasoning requirements.
- Diversity requirement may be double counted from intellectual explorations requirements.
- Intellectual explorations courses must include two courses in each of the four subject areas of fine arts, humanities, and social sciences (METEO 1010 and 1020 satisfy physical and life sciences requirements).
- Students planning to obtain a business minor should take BUS 1050 (BUS 1010 prior to Fall 2005) as their humanities or social and behavioral science intellectual explorations course. They must also take IS 1420 (a.k.a. ACCTG 1420), or place out of it by petitioning for credit by examination through the University of Utah admissions office. MATH 1210 meets the business minor math requirement.
- Students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and receive a grade of C- or higher in all courses required for the major.
- Technical electives must be selected in consultation with an adviser and are based on the program of study selected by the student.
